Hi everyone,

When it comes to your skin, it can be hard to adhere to a hands-off policy. This is especially true when you get a nasty pimple!

I'm not going to go into all of the various reasons why popping your pimples is bad for your skin, but just know that doing so may lead to an even bigger zit, more pimples, or even scarring. So, in a word: Don't.

Here are a few sqeeze-free suggestions for dealing with the occasional pimple using products you can find at home (Note: If you suffer from acne you should seek the advice of a physician.):

Toothpaste

Squeeze a small dot of non-gel toothpaste with baking soda in it onto a q-tip and apply it to the pimple. Allow this to dry over night in order to reduce inflammation and draw out the pus from inside of the pimple. In the morning, rise and wash your face as usual.

Baking Soda

Combine a small amount of baking soda with some water and apply it directly to your pimple using a q-tip. This does the same thing as the toothpaste remedy, it's just a little less sticky and less minty smelling!

Visine
Do you have a nasty red spot from a pimple that's in the process of healing? Visine can save the day. Dab a bit of Visine directly on the pimple and surrounding skin using a q-tip and watch the redness go away! Magic? I think not.

Hydrogen Peroxide
Use a dab of this on your pimple and let it set for a few minutes. This will draw out the puss from inside and diminish the size of the zit. It may sting a bit at first, and it doesn't smell great either. Try this remedy after you've washed your face as usual, and then hop into the shower. The hot steam will open up your pores and the smell with fade, along with that nasty zit!

White Vinegar

If you want to quickly dissolve the pus inside your zit, try dabbing it with a few drops of white vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar will also help to reduce the size of the pimple once all the icky pus is pulled out.

If you still have the urge to pop your pimple yourself, click HERE to watch a clip of Dr. Oz on Oprah, where he shows people how to do it properly. Although, after watching the graphic clip, you probably won't want to pop it anymore!

Do you know of any other no-squeeze home remedies for pimples? Let me know in the comment section below.

NOOOO...toothpaste gave me horrible deep, red scars. Gross....

Don't do it!!! It's been a year and the scars I got from it hasn't lessened one bit.

I have to use a lot of concealer. & I had to buy that color correcting stuff too :P

Should've used common sense. Toothpaste is made for your teeth. -_______-"

before knowing about this blog, I already tried the toothpaste method, but less the baking soda. did it for 2 nights. on the first, twas okay. then on the second, on the morning, my face was burnt by the toothpaste.

Toothpaste is quite effective! I don't know about the US, but in the UK we have a very gentle antiseptic cream (you can literally get it at the supermarket or drugstore and it's cheap; it's sometimes used for babies' nappy rashes so that's how gentle it is). It's called Savlon. I swear by it!
