Hi everyone,

This video is for a Día de los Muertos look. Día de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead”, is traditionally celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November (sounds about right, who else feels dead after Halloween?). In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to paint a sugar skull on your face.

I use a lot face paint in this video; for more information on face paint, be sure to check out this post on making face paint and this one on applying it. Chriselle can help show you how to make a headpiece similar to the one I'm wearing here.

Here are some extra pictures of the finished look:

And then the interesting part…taking off the makeup!

All done!

This look is so intriguing to me because everyone’s sugar skulls can look different. Research some designs for inspiration and get creative with your shapes. Let your artistry shine through and have fun with it!

Tell me how you would decorate yours in the comments below!

Hahahaa I love how you showed the removal process!

Hi Michelle!
I think you did a great job :D I'm from Mexico and I know exactly how the skulls looks like. I loved how you used the colors and the details of the eyes were fantastic. Also you did capture the essence of the skulls in the make up. You're awesome C:

a friend and i went to a halloween party last friday and she used this turtorial to do her make up! It was awesome, she got some really cool comments!

Thanx Michelle!

i did one similar to this and i have to say it was an awesome look to do

Wow! So cool! But it looks so complicated, lol!

I love the tutorial but Day of the Dead is only celebrated in Mexico. That aside, I definately want to try this.
