Missing Home

I really do miss home. I am in one of the greatest city in the world, yet I cried today because I still miss my family, my loved ones, and Mr. Bun Bun.  Sometimes I just want to get a ticket and go home now, but I’m here for work and I cannot risk that. Success comes with many sacrifices. If you truly want something, you have to sacrifice. Life is never fair. When you gain, you lose. Even in mother nature there is Yin and Yang. When one side of the world receives light from the sun, the other is in darkness. You cannot expect everything to be perfect. Remember that quote I love so much?

“Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

Things may not all go according to plan, but that is the beauty of it. You can either do 2 things.

1. Be upset and moan and groan.

2. Accept the beauty of spontaneity and seek for an opportunity within it.

Life is all about embracing the imperfections in life. I’d like to call them happy accidents.

Ending with an emo photo of yours truly, and no I’m not going to jump you crazy loons.

Kindly,

Michelle

happiness has come up a lot lately. basically happiness is its own mountain, where once you’ve climbed to the top all your energy is spent to maintain that happiness, which can cause its own kind of suffering. it’s best to be content knowing that life offers you the opportunity to make your own path and succeed or fail but keep on living. if you ever reached happiness, could you be happier? how do you know you’re there?

that said, I’m not interested in make up but your videos have captured the hearts and minds of my housemates and me. your approach to these things is very hypnotic and soothing, and we love the way you sneak in these zen-like messages of encouragement. looking forward to more! enjoy your journey, Michelle.

    Cheer up! :)

I know how you feel.. hang in there. Ýou’re just here for business so that means you’ll see Mr. Bun Bun very soon!

Meanwhile, you should really check out the shopping in HK!!! Don’t miss out just beceause you’re feeling a bit down. Have some good food, do a nice spa or mani / pedicure to pamper yourself and take a nice long nap (if your schedule is not too busy…) and you’ll feel better! :)

    Take care! :)

Oh, dear Michelle, I’m sorry that you feel homesick but I’m also very happy that you are working on the thing that you love. I happen to think that to have an aim is quite a blessing thing.
I hope you’ll feel much better and get what you are fighting for!
    Love you !

Sometimes, those “imperfections” can actually lead to something amazing, it just doesn’t seem like it at the time.

this message is for Sandra….What you said is really unnecessary, why do you have to be so rude with your comment. Unless you’re aged 60+, what’s wrong with wearing a mini skirt and jacket with high heels?? Michelle, i think you look amazing and hopefully you don’t take any notice of such negative comments. May God bless you always.

Hi MP, thats a great quote, you always have really great ones.

here’s one that you might like and its fitting for this topic :) have fun in HK you’ll be home soon.

*When things don’t go as planned, I remind myself that I’m riding on an
escalator, not in an elevator. When an elevator breaks down, you’re
stuck inside waiting to be “rescued”… but when an escalator breaks
down it becomes a stairway. With just a little extra effort you can
continue right on to your original destination.

    Michelle,

While I have been following you since the very beginning (like what, 2006/2007?), I have never really responded to what you have said. Today, I will, mostly because you are reminding me of myself more and more. (I realize that it is funny, but I, too, always carry extra controllers and makeup brushes in my purse).

Day to day life is hard, especially away from home, no matter what. You have grown stronger over the years I have watched your videos and read your blogs. I would say that I’m proud, but I don’t know you that well. I think I just appreciate that a strong woman is putting herself out there as a positive role model for younger women! I hope girls who come to your blog or view your videos get more than just makeup tips.

Congratulations on making it this far, and I’m sure you’ll blister us with your brilliance in times to come.

I want to travel for my work when I get done with this second round of college, I think it will be kinda hard for myself, but I will never know until it truly happens. and options 2.”Accept the beauty of spontaneity and seek for an opportunity within it.” Is always a great way to cope with stuff like this but you’ll be fine. and that Pose is great

I’ve had that homesick feeling, too, Michelle. Don’t worry. Just try to enjoy your time in Hong Kong and in no time you’ll be back home with your close friends and family.

I also wanted to let you know how much you’ve inspired me. Before I knew about you, I didn’t know anything about makeup (and neither was I interested in doing my own makeup), but after watching just a couple of your videos, I became completely inspired by your sophisticated style and little messages of encouragement. I used to think that makeup was only for “girly girls” that only wanted to look older, but you’ve changed my opinion on that. Now, I think of makeup as an art form and enhances natural beauty, not cover it up. Thanks for the inspiration, Michelle. I don’t know you personally, but I’m so proud of you and how much you’ve already achieved at such a young age. Congratulations on your success.

I used to enjoy your video and blog posts Michelle. Yes your outfits were always sexy but tastefully so… then you resorted to cleavage videos and up-the-mini-skirt shots.
    And now…random skanky photos?

    hey michelle,
when I read this post I felt really compelled to comment even though I’ve mostly been a lurker before :P it’s because I’m really really really homesick too, but I’m from hong kong, so I’m homesick for hong kong :( and I’m in the states right now, so it’s kind of like our roles are reversed :( I’d give anything to be where you are right now…but don’t worry, you’ll be home soon! How long are you going to be there for? :) check out the lanes in Causeway bay, they offer really really cheap things, sometimes the quality isn’t all too good but the fun is in the search! Oh and I’m sure you’ve already been to Lane Crawford in IFC? :D soo nicee, they offer really nice makeup there (well I’m sure nothing you can’t already get from the states, but still!) and I really hope you start to like it more… what business-ey things are you doing there? :D

I absolutely LOVE your attitude. I went through the same thought process when I was on the road for year for school, building up for my career. I was constantly home sick, but even though it was tough, I got to see places and do things I never would have appreciated if I was bummed out all the time. And trust me, it’s totally worth it in the end. Hard work is always worth it.
